In Therapy’s Private Practice Website
I had so much fun creating a therapy website that is as singular as its owner, Meredith Wilson, LCSW & founder of In Therapy. Meredith specializes in the treatment of OCD and anxiety-related disorders. , and uses . One of the things I most appreciate about Meredith’s approach is that along with using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) which is the gold standard treatment for OCD, she infuses creativity, puppets and art into helping kids and their parents understand anxiety. Fun fact: Meredith and I met in graduate school while working towards our masters in social work. It was extra exciting to design a website for someone I know so well both personally and professionally!
About the Custom Website Project
As she prepared to leave her agency job to go into private practice full-time, Meredith knew she needed more than her Psychology Today profile to promote her practice. Because of the difficult nature of treating OCD, Meredith also knew that it was common for her clients and their parents to be at their wits end by the time they reached her, having tried so many things that didn’t work. A primary goal of the website was to reflect Meredith’s own therapeutic presence, which she describes as “straightforward and direct, offering encouragement and giving a clear idea of what the next steps are for you to take. Working with OCD is difficult and I bring much needed laughter to sessions.”
In Therapy’s website strikes that balance of ‘relaxed but appropriately serious.’ This was accomplished with the photo selection (the home page may be my favorite example of this!), the use of vibrant color blocks to communicate hope and a change of perspective, as well as providing a structure for organizing the content that is clean and uncluttered. The elements on the website also appear as you scroll, giving the viewer a sense of the forward movement they hope to experience as a result of therapy.
The end result is a website that reflects Meredith’s creativity and expertise, while gently yet directly guiding visitors to take the next step!

Plus she has a great eye for design. My favorite part of the website: I love the color choices we went with, how it flows together, the animation of the type appearing gradually, and how clean and clear it is.
